James P. McInerny, born in Boston, Massachusetts, on October 14, 1957; admitted to Texas Bar 1987; also admitted in California; admitted to practice before U.S. Courts of Appeal, Fifth and Ninth Circuits; U.S. District Courts, Southern and Western Districts of Texas; Northern and Central Districts of California.

Mr. McInerny joined Phillips & Akers in 1993, and is a Director with the firm. He is board certified in labor and employment law by the Texas Board of Legal Specialization. The majority of his practice involves defending clients in labor and employment law matters, including claims of sexual harassment, claims under the Americans with Disabilities Act and wrongful termination claims. Mr. McInerny has handled cases in state and federal courts, from the administrative level through trial and appeal. He has extensive administrative experience before OSHA, the EEOC, the National Labor Relations Board, the Texas Commission on Human Rights and the Texas Workers' Compensation Commission. He also advises clients on a variety of employment-related matters, including employee handbooks, hiring and firing procedures and wage and hour questions. Mr. McInerny has written and spoken on labor and employment law issues to a number of employer groups.
