Before coming to Phillips and Akers, Mr. Kieval was a briefing and staff attorney for nine years at the Fourteenth Court of Appeals. As an attorney on staff at the Court of Appeals, Mr. Kieval conducted legal research, reviewed trial records, and drafted legal opinions in appeals involving complex substantive and procedural issues facing the Court. He spent a significant portion of his tenure handling the Court’s original proceeding docket.

At Phillips & Akers, where he is a Director, Mr. Kieval specializes in state and federal motion and appellate practice which involves defending individuals and corporations in cases where complex liability and procedural issues are at stake. A number of the appeals handled by Mr. Kieval are published in the state and federal law reporters.
